Philip is the driving force behind the development and growth of Urbanics Consultants Ltd. He has more than 48 years of professional experience in a wide variety of studies related to commercial and residential market feasibility, urban development and transit-oriented developments. In addition, he has extensive experience in conducting financial feasibility studies, economic impact assessments and downtown revitalization studies.
Ross Blackwell, MAP, MCIP, RPP, A.Ag.
Executive Vice President
Ross has more than 20 years of professional experience in community development, urban planning, economic development, public engagement, policy analysis and land use studies. Mr. Blackwell is an award-winning expert in the field of community development within both the public and private sector; his accolades include Excellence in Planning for Rural/Small Towns and Civic Engagement Best Practices, among many others. He has exceptional proficiency in managing large, in-depth studies, initiatives and strategic implementation.
Claire specializes in conducting revitalization studies, specialty retail studies, land use marketability and economic impact studies for residential, resort and retail land uses. She is also proficient in survey development and qualitative analysis. Claire is a graduate of the Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning program from Ryerson University, Toronto as well as the Bachelor of Environmental Studies program from York University, Toronto. She is also a Provisional Member of the Planning Institute of British Columbia.
Siavash specializes in conducting residential land use studies and financial feasibility studies. He has over 3 years of experience in real estate financing, working both in the commercial mortgage lending sector as well as on the residential underwriting side. He is also familiar with public policy and its impacts on real estate and the development industry. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a combined economics and politics degree and is also pursuing his CFA designation.
Sophee Payne, MSP
Sophee specializes in housing studies, public consultation, Geographic Information Systems analysis, and land use related studies. She graduated cum laude with a Master's in Science of Planning at Florida State University, specializing in how the built environment can improve public health with a particular focus on housing, transportation, and land use. She is currently pursuing membership with the Planning Institute of British Columbia.
Sebastian specializes in land use market studies for large mixed-use developments throughout Western Canada, in addition to economic impact and land lift studies. Sebastian is passionate about applying quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform how built environments can better serve human needs and aspirations. He has a BA from the University of British Columbia in Economics, minoring in Commerce.
Karen specializes in policy and regulatory planning, public engagement, land development, project management and community-focused studies such as housing needs assessments. She has public and private sector experience through her work in Canada and the United States. Karen has volunteered in different leadership capacities with the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Planning Institute of British Columbia and other non-profit organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a Master's of Science in Planning from the School of Community and Regional Planning, University of British Columbia.
Brendan is experienced with the practice and politics of public consultation and land use, and associated implications for development. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA in Economics and a minor in Political Science.
