Urbanics Consultants Ltd. was commissioned by the Rainy River First Nation to study the feasibility of a commercial highway redevelopment opportunity, including options for increasing revenues at the Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre. Urbanics identified the under-utilization of a site and recommended a plan for expanding into a more substantial retail development. For the historical centre, Urbanics identified two strategies: reducing the operational costs and redirecting funds from the historical centre to other cultural activities; or pursuing a diverse group of partnerships to create a larger complex to draw in more visitors.
