URBANICS

District of Fort St. James Moving Housing Forward

Date: 2018
Client: District of Fort St. James

Urbanics assessed the current and the emerging housing needs of the District of Fort St. James and created an Action Plan for addressing them. The study examined the current land-use, housing policies, and housing market in the community. Urbanics also analyzed housing availability, suitability, and affordability across the housing continuum (market-rate as well as non-market-rate housing needs). The study estimated the emerging housing needs, by tenure and dwelling type, as well as the number of households in core housing needs in the community from 2017 to 2026. Urbanics identified a need for 37 owner-occupied and 16 renter-occupied units during the period. The study also identified a need for 40 non-market housing, including emergency, supportive and transitional housing. The research and analysis was presented in a full Housing Action Plan to address the housing needs of the community.
