Additional Transit-oriented Projects: 

 

  • Coquitlam Town Centre SkyTrain Station, Coquitlam, BC:  Urbanics reviewed the SkyTrain’s impact on Coquitlam Town Centre in terms of urban development opportunities, including the potential for expanded retail functions (among other land uses).

 

  • SkyTrain SIA Redevelopment Opportunity Study, Coquitlam, BC: Urbanics prepared economic implementation strategies to assist in the redevelopment of SkyTrain station impact areas, particularly in regards to commercial-retail areas such as Lougheed Town Centre and Burquitlam Village.

 

  • Vancouver International Airport (Terminal 3), Vancouver, BC: Urbanics conducted several retail market analyses and merchandising studies for the development of retailing facilities at the expanded Vancouver International Airport.

 

  • Ferry Terminals, Hong Kong and Macau: Urbanics conducted market analyses (including several consumer surveys) to determine the scale and type of retail and commercial development, which would serve incoming/outgoing passengers of the various market segments at the Hong Kong and Macau ferry terminals.

 

  • Stadium SkyTrain Station, Vancouver, BC:  Urbanics assessed the market feasibility of retail and commercial development opportunities, for various clients, including B.C. Place Corp. and Concord Pacific, at sites nearby and linked to the SkyTrain Station.

 

  • Alex Nihon Plaza, Montreal, Quebec: Urbanics undertook market and financial analyses, design programming and implementation consulting services for the mixed-use retail and office project at the terminus of the subway.

 

  • Metroplan, Washington, DC: Participated in an analysis of potential incremental land use development opportunities occasioned by the appropriate siting of fixed-rail transit stations, several of which involved potential inter-modal activity.

 

  • Mid-Town Plaza, Rochester, New York: Urban development analysis for this mixed-use, downtown project including transportation-related facilities/activities.

 

  • Place Ville Marie, Montreal, Quebec: Undertook major mixed-use project expansion analysis for Montreal's major downtown inter-modal complex including:  inter-city trains, communiter trains, subway, and downtown bus system.

 

  • Metropolitan Toronto and Regional Transportation Study: undertook comprehensive land use study for long-range comprehensive transportation programming.

 

  • Metropolitan Toronto, Ontario: Numerous site-specific urban development projects involving inter-modal transit facilities including:  Eaton's Centre, Bloor & Yonge, Eglington & Yonge, Metro Centre (not built), Yorkdale Centre, Scarborough Centre, etc.

 

  • Lonsdale Quay, North Vancouver, BC:  Urbanics conducted studies of the multi-family residential and retail market potential for the area located near the Seabus terminal and major office node in suburban North Vancouver, B.C.

 

  • Westminster Quay/Westminster Landing, New Westminster, BC:  Comprehensive multi-land use development analyses of market potential at sites in New Westminster, nearby the SkyTrain station, with access to downtown Vancouver.

 

  • Waterfront Centre, Vancouver, BC:  Urbanics conducted retail market and merchandising analyses for this major downtown mixed-use development, which is located in a major downtown transportation hub having direct access to the SkyTrain system.

 

  • Metrotown, Burnaby, BC: Urbanics assessed the market potential for the development of a regional‑scale shopping centre in Burnaby, recognizing the influence of the SkyTrain station at the site.

 

  • ALRT and Joint Development, Vancouver , BC: Urbanics prepared a study for the City of Vancouver assessing the opportunities for joint venture development between public and private sectors.  The study will facilitate the type and timing of various land use developments resulting from increased accessibility and locational characteristics created by the ALRT.

 

  • SkyTrain Extension, Burnaby, BC:  Recently completed a major land use marketability study for a proposed, new 8-mile "SkyTrain" extension.  Identified preferred locations and incremental urban development opportunities occasioned by both transit and inter-modal stations.

 

  • Electric Tramway System, Nelson, BC:  Urbanics undertook a study of the electric tramway system in the City of Nelson with the objective of analyzing and deriving an optimal street railway operating system to enhance future tourism, economic and financial benefits accruing to the area.

 

  • Calgary Light Rail Transit Corridor Land Use Study, Calgary, Alberta: Urbanics prepared for the City of Calgary, an assessment of the likely market demand for various land uses (high density office and residential, retail and hotel) in the vicinity of the C-Train Light Rapid Transit line along the MacLeod Trail in south Calgary.  The study examined growth trends and locational demands at alternative station impact areas within the MacLeod Trail.
