Regional Industrial Land Supply and Demand Study

Regional District of Nanaimo, BC (2013)

Urbanics along with Golder Associates conducted the Regional Industrial Land Supply and Demand Study for the Regional District of Nanaimo. The study’s main objective were:

  • To support a strategic approach to employment lands planning, marketing, and implementation

  • To evaluate compliance with the regional sustainability goals

  • To create a more economically resilient region 

  • To reduce reliance on fossil fuels and minimize emissions and waste generated by industries 

Industrial Supply demand study

Salt Spring Island, BC (2013)

The study examined the current capacity of industrial lands and estimated the expected future demand (short, medium and long term) for industrial land on the Island. The study included:

  • Identification and inventory of all existing industrially-zoned land and facilities on the Island

  • Assessment of location characteristics of industrial zoned lands

  • Identification of the form and type of industrial use that may require industrial zoned land

  • Identification of industrial zoned land requirements over the next 25 years
